Our South Coast office raises £11,000 for local charity

17 July 2014

Staff at our South Coast office raised more than £10,000 to helps seriously ill children by dancing the night away at a British Summer themed party.

Our South Coast office invited its staff and outside contacts who work closely with the region to the seasonal bash at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

The event raised a whopping £11,000 for Naomi House and Jacksplace, two specialist units offering care and support to young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions – and their families – from all across the South Coast.

It takes the total raised by Persimmon Homes for the Winchester-based Naomi House to £23,000 after  another bumper cheque was handed over last year.

Matt Paine, managing director for Persimmon South Coast, said: “Our summer party really was a great success. We had Pimms and cider on arrival on the terrace as the sun was shining, followed by a lovely traditional barbecue.

“The comedian had everyone in stitches and a raffle and auction really helped to boost our total. The day was rounded off with a DJ who had everyone up and dancing.”

The Wessex Children’s Hospice Trust, which runs Naomi House and Jacksplace, has to raise £7million a year to run its whole service and deliver its plans. The charity gets less than 20 per cent of its charitable expenditure from statutory sources, with the rest coming from donations by individuals groups and businesses.

Matt added: “Naomi House is just an incredible facility that not only provides excellent medical care but also pastimes and activities that all children should be able to enjoy.

“We’re delighted to do anything we can to help this much-loved local cause.”

Deputy chief executive at Naomi House, Mark Smith, said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone at Persimmon Homes for their continued support.

“This is an extra special year for Naomi House and Jacksplace as we’ve launched our Caterpillar Appeal to modernise the hospice.

“This money raised will make such a difference to the children and families who rely on our care.”

Persimmon Homes South Coast builds houses across Hampshire, Wiltshire, West Sussex and Dorset.
