Paving the way to a safer school
15 November 2012
Pupils and staff at a Hampshire senior school returned after the summer break to a cleaner, safer entrance thanks to a kind donation from Persimmon Homes South Coast
Persimmon resurfaced the driveway at Eggars School, Alton, to the tune of more than £3,000.
Jon Bentley, technical co-ordinator at Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “We renewed about 20m of the driveway at the school, as well as making the road safer around the school entrance. The work took us a couple of days, and was carried out during carriageway works for our development at Barley Fields, Alton.”
The carriageway works included the installation of a new toucan crossing, a crossing that caters for both pedestrians and cyclists.
Eggars School head teacher, Mr Ben Godber, sent a letter of thanks to Persimmon for the work done at the school entrance.
Barley Fields is a stunning development of homes less than a mile from Alton town centre. It includes a first release of well-designed three and five bedroom houses, ideal for family living.
The development will also offer a fine selection of one and two bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five bedroom houses in a range of styles.
