Pembrokeshire homeless charity secures funding for high-tech sleeping coats
10 February 2022

A Pembrokeshire homeless charity has received a £1,000 donation to buy two specialist coats to improve comfort and safety for rough sleepers.
Homeless Pembrokeshire, which provides an outreach service for people who find themselves in crisis, has been handed the cash through our Community Champions scheme.
Each month we donate up to £64,000 to good causes across the UK, including up to £4,000 in Wales.
Homeless Pembrokeshire will use the funding to buy two ROOF Coat Bags, which not only provide incredible protection against the weather but are also stab resistant and fireproof.
Charity founder Amanda Evans said: “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for this tremendous donation.
“These ROOF Coat Bags are a lifesaver for those people who are unable to obtain emergency accommodation. They are windproof, stab proof, fireproof and can offer protection down to minus 30 degrees
“Pembrokeshire is a very rural county and weather conditions can be challenging. Until now no such protection has been offered to rough sleepers.
“The two additional coats we are able to purchase with this money will really make a difference.”
Sharon Bouhali, sales director for West Wales, said: “We are delighted to support Homeless Pembrokeshire.
“Having to sleep rough, particularly in these winter months, doesn’t bear thinking about. These ROOF Coat Bags at least offer some comfort and protection while accommodation is sought.
“Well done to Homeless Pembrokeshire for the work they do. They are a true Community Champion.”
