Penrith Rugby Club Score Early Christmas Present
14 December 2023
Penrith Rugby Union Club is celebrating after bagging a donation to pay for new rugby balls.
The funding boost comes after the club applied for funding via a charitable donation scheme run by our Community Champions scheme.
Players and Directors joined local Westmorland & Furness Councillor Virginia Taylor at a recent home game to receive a cheque for £1,000 from Persimmon Managing Director Anhtony Mansfield.
A brand-new set of Gilbert rugby balls has been bought with the money, with Persimmon also made official match ball sponsor for the season.
Penrith RUFC are looking to solidify themselves in the Regional 1 North West league this season after a promotion winning season last year.
Charles Graves, a Director of Penrith RUFC said “With 20 teams to manage, Penrith Rugby Club are constantly looking for contributions from sponsors to assist in the day to day running costs.
“This grant has covered the cost of match and training balls for our 2023/24 season and so on behalf of the club and our 500 plus players, I would like to thank Persimmon for their donation and continued support.”
Councillor Virginia Taylor, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Communities and Localities said, “It was a great pleasure to join the club’s officers and hear about their plans for the club and the many activities that local residents can enjoy.”
Anthony Mansfield, Managing Director for Persimmon added: “Penrith Rugby Club are a huge part of their local community, so it was great to be meet some of the players and those involved with the running of the club.
