Persimmon becomes one of the first organisations to receive Building a Safer Future Champion Status
05 April 2023

BSF has named Persimmon a Champion for leadership and culture around building safety.
Building a Safer Future (BSF) is an independent non-profit organisation that was conceived following the Grenfell tragedy. It was established to create positive culture and behaviour change in building safety, and equips companies with data and tools to help drive improvement in leadership and culture around building safety.
Persimmon was one of the first companies to sign up to the scheme in 2021, opting to embark on the Champion assessment, the highest level of engagement.
We met the required minimum standard in both Stages 1 and 2 of the assessment, which included an in-depth staff survey, before becoming one of the first few companies in the building industry to succeed in achieving Champion status.
The certificate was presented to Abigail Bainbridge (Group HS&E Director) and Tom Weller (Group Building Safety Manager) by Dame Judith Hackitt, Chair of the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety and Chair of the Industry Safety Steering Group.
The Champion status demonstrates Persimmon’s sector-leading approach to making changes to building safety, and being proactive without waiting for regulation. It marks our commitment to continuous improvement in building safety, and making meaningful changes through both leadership and culture.
