Persimmon celebrates Love Parks Week
28 July 2023

From 28th July to 6th August 2023, we celebrate the parks and green spaces that bring communities and families together and provide opportunities to reconnect with nature and strengthen our wellbeing.
Run by Keep Britain Tidy, Love Parks Week is an annual campaign to celebrate our parks, green spaces, and the communities they bring together. At Persimmon, we are proud to bring these wonderful spaces to our developments for families and new communities to enjoy.
We design areas of parks, play areas and wildlife habitats as part of our new developments. In 2022, we created 647 acres of public open space, and planted 147,000 trees on our developments.
Our Garendon Park development in Loughborough is celebrating by sponsoring and joining in the Garendon Gallop 10k run through the historic park on Sunday 30th July. Working with Loughborough University and Team GB, and raising funds for Heart Link Children’s Charity, the course passes the estate’s numerous monuments, which have been preserved as part of the development and a great opportunity to enjoy being in this wonderful estate.

Not only are these spaces a valuable community asset, they are home to an array of wildlife. Our development in Newcastle Great Park is alive with a mosaic of habitats including wetlands, watercourses, woodlands and meadows. By bringing the community together with nature, residents are encouraged to report wildlife sightings using our wildlife survey. The results are used to inform the Biodiversity Action Plan for the development to continue to support local wildlife and to run wildlife events.
Nature and community are central to tackling the climate crisis, and here at Persimmon we are proud to be building these wonderful and sustainable communities for everyone to enjoy.
