Persimmon Homes appoint new boss for East Midlands developments

Persimmon Homes East Midlands has announced a new Deputy Managing Director to oversee its projects across the region.
Simon McDonald takes up the role moving from the company’s North Midlands region where he was a Commercial and Technical Director for five years.
The 41 year old, who has worked for the company for 17 years, has vowed to ‘breathe new life’ into the region.
Mr McDonald will be based at Persimmon Homes East Midlands’ office in Peterborough and will be in charge of developments in parts of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
He said: “It is my goal to increase the building quality and push our customer care levels. I want to see an increase in our supply chain of sub contractors and as a company go back to basics. “It is my aim to breathe new life into the region.
“Persimmon Homes is a strong brand and a leading name in construction in the UK – it’s a company people should be proud to work for.
“I want more people recommending us to a friend and that’s key to our strategy in the Persimmon Homes East Midlands region.
“The target is to build 700 homes across our region this year. That will be the largest amount that this branch has ever built in a single year before.
“With an election approaching it has in the past affected the housing market but that hasn’t been the case and the market is strong. Persimmon Homes East Midlands will continue to push the numbers.”
Mr McDonald worked his way up through the company starting as a surveyor and now wants people to consider joining Persimmon Homes to begin a career.
Highlighting apprentices he said: “We already have our partnership with the Ministry of Defence where we take on ex-military personnel into the company and that it something I’m very keen to build on. “At the moment we have four apprentices based in our Peterborough office and I’d like to see more. The message is if you’re after a career in sales, advertising, marketing, accountancy or surveying then get in touch. We have a lot to offer for people who want a career with the company.”
