Persimmon Homes cash donation helps make a splash with Poole swimming club

Persimmon Homes has donated £1,000 to help a high-achieving swimming club in Poole replace ageing equipment critical to its swimmers and fund continued professional development of coaching.
Poole and Dorset Premium Amateur Swimming Club was chosen to receive the money by Persimmon Homes South Coast, based in Fareham, through its Community Champions scheme. Persimmon Homes chose the group to benefit from its monthly match-funded donation.
The club has more than 300 members, aged three to 85 years, and provides swimming both for leisure and competitively at county, regional, national, European and GB level.
Spokeswoman Corinne McCrea said: “Recent results have pushed our club to be one of the best in the country. We are heavily dependent on fundraising to meet professional coaching costs and equipment for our highly competitive swimmers and other members alike. We are now encouraging our volunteers, aged 18 to 25, to teach our younger children and are raising funds for the running of the club and for training purposes too.”

“Offering coaching courses will not only improve the quality of the teaching but ensure that all swimmers achieve their best potential. We cannot thank Persimmon Homes enough for their support.”
Matt Paine, managing director for Persimmon Homes South Coast, added: “We are delighted to be able to help Poole swimming club in this way. Learning to swim is an essential life skill, but this club clearly makes a huge difference to young swimmers eager to excel at their sport. ”
“If people were unsuccessful in their Community Champions application, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next recipient.”
