Persimmon Homes Cornwall has announced plans for almost 200 new homes in Bodmin, creating around 500 jobs.
Persimmon Homes Cornwall has secured an interest in land next to the Devon & Cornwall Police hub off Cooksland Road.
The development is part of Persimmon Home Cornwall continued investment in Cornwall and will deliver 178 much-needed new homes to the town.
Daniel Heathcote, director in charge at Persimmon Homes Cornwall, said: “We’re delighted to be moving forward with this exciting new development in Bodmin.”
“We have exchanged contracts on this land and hope that we are in a position to deliver the first homes on site in the middle of 2018.”
“Persimmon Homes is one of the leading housebuilders in the UK, delivering thousands of good quality, affordable homes each year.”
“We launched our regional Cornwall business last year and we’re now operating successful sites in Plymouth, Liskeard, Newquay and Truro and have our new development Eve Parc, Falmouth, shortly commencing.”
“Our success has meant we have been able to grow our team and invest in the local communities in which we are building.”
“This development in Bodmin will be the next step in our growth.”
The work will create an estimated 300 jobs in the building sector, as well as 180 jobs in the supply chain.
The development will be made up of a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes.
With easy access to the A30, the Bodmin bypass, the development will be ideal for commuters working around the county.
One of Cornwall’s oldest towns, Bodmin today has excellent walking and cycling routes as well as national retailers and good schools.
