Persimmon Homes supports lifesaving campaign
23 April 2019
Persimmon Homes has pledged £1,000 towards fundraising to send a three-year-old Bradwell girl to the USA for lifesaving cancer treatment.
Anna Poppy’s Army was selected to receive the donation as part of the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme.
Andrew Fuller, managing director at Persimmon Homes Anglia, said: “As a parent, you cannot fail to be moved by Anna Poppy Lawson’s story. She has already faced more than a year of hospital treatment and now her family need to look at travelling to America to explore possible lifesaving treatment.”
“Our Community Champions fund enables us to support worthy causes in our region, so we are honoured to help Anna and her family.”
Anna has medulloblastoma, a form of childhood cancer which doctors initially thought would be curable but, having relapsed, her family have been told the NHS can only offer radiotherapy and chemotherapy, with a 20 per cent chance of success. However, the local community has joined her family in trying to raise £50,000 to send her to San Francisco for a potential treatment trial.
Anna’s dad, Ben Lawson, said: “My wife and I would like to make a heartfelt thank you to Persimmon Homes for making an extremely generous donation to Anna’s fund.”
“Although things are very uncertain, knowing that we have the ability to react immediately should treatment provided by the NHS be unsuccessful gives us unbelievable comfort at this extremely difficult time.”
“All of our focus can now be on time spent with Anna and towards identifying back-up options. For that we are forever grateful.”
