Persimmon steps in to complete stalled housing development in Nottinghamshire
12 August 2024
Persimmon Nottingham region has come to the rescue of a stalled housing development in Clipstone after the previous developer went into administration.
The Sherwood Oaks site, located a few miles from Mansfield, has planning permission for 313 new homes, but only 30 had been built by the time the previous housebuilder ran into financial difficulty.
Now a deal has been struck between Persimmon and the administrators for the Mansfield based housebuilder to complete the development as originally intended.
The news will be welcomed by local residents who have expressed their desire to see work restart on the site as soon as possible.
In addition to the new homes, significant funding will be provided by Persimmon to go towards local infrastructure and public services.
Gareth Hankin, Managing Director for Nottingham region said: “We’re pleased to be able to step in and help deliver much-needed new homes in Nottinghamshire.
“Local residents are rightly keen to see work recommence as soon as possible to bring the development back to life and to benefit from the new community facilities.
“Sherwood Oaks will deliver a mix of high-quality new homes ranging from 1 to 4 bedroom properties. The development will also contribute over £2 million to the local community, through direct investment in additional affordable housing, local schools, health services, highways as well as public open spaces and a children’s play area.
“We will continue to keep local residents and stakeholders updated but are pleased to confirm that work to complete the development has already commenced.”
