Persimmon teams up with council to provide new defibrillator
26 October 2022

Residents in Easingwold, North Yorkshire, have access to a new defibrillator following its installation by Persimmon.
Councillors this week joined representatives from Persimmon to unveil the new defibrillator and raise awareness of the life-saving difference than defibrillators and CPR can make.
Figures from the London Ambulance Service show that survival rates for cardiac arrests are more than five times higher when a Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) is used.
Easingwold Town Council’s defibrillator map shows members of the public where their nearest defibrillator is in and around the town. This latest addition has been purchased with funds raised by Easingwold Town Council, Easingwold District Lions and Friends of St Monica’s Hospital and has been installed by Persimmon on their development The Weald.
Easingwold Town Councillor Frank Johnston-Banks said “We know that access to defibrillators saves lives, which is why the Town Council have produced this important map. Residents and visitors in Easingwold now know where to easily find their nearest defibrillator in a 999 situation.”
Hambleton District & North Yorkshire County Councillor Nigel Knapton said “It’s fantastic that thanks to the community’s fundraising efforts and Persimmon’s help with installation we have another defibrillator available in Easingwold which we can add to the Easingwold Defibrillator Map. It’s an incredibly important resource that makes it even easier to save a life.”
Simon Winship, Commercial Director of Persimmon Homes Yorkshire said “We were only too happy to help in providing the installation site and expertise to properly install this piece of vital life-saving equipment. All of our site first aiders are trained in the use of defibrillators in an emergency situation and we are delighted to have this location included on Easingwold’s defibrillator map”.
Persimmon have also donated a number of Public Access Defibrillators throughout the UK through their Community Champions scheme during 2022, including new defibrillators in Teesside, Staffordshire, Wiltshire, Nottinghamshire and Wales.
