Persimmon Wales & South West secure two spots on influential women list

15 November 2023

A strategic planning manager from West Wales and a field sales manager from Cornwall & West Devon have been named on the National Builders Federation’s Top 100 influential women in construction list.

Kate Harrison, based in Persimmon’s Swansea office, was awarded the accolade after delivering planning permission for 1,200 homes for local people in the region. As a certified town planner specialising in the housing sector, she contributes to every phase of development, from initial land assessments to project completion and approvals.

She has also played a key role in a number of initiatives at Persimmon from the championing of Target 50 – a business campaign to recruit 50 female apprentices and trainees – to engaging in the Women’s Network.

Amy Cartwright, from the Plymouth office can add her award to her winning the regional business’ Sales Advisor of the Year award in 2018 and its Manager of the Year in 2022, as voted for by her peers. Amy has been with the five-star housebuilder for the last nine years, starting as a part-time sales advisor, before working her way to a full-time position before qualifying to become a Field Sales Manager.

Amy’s accolade is no accident, having completed Persimmon’s Sales Excellence Programme and becoming a member of the Institute of Sales Professionals.

Commenting on her achievement, Kate said: “I am thrilled to have my work recognised and want to thank those who encouraged me and have played a part in my professional successes. My ongoing pursuit is obtaining the next planning achievement and site acquisition to contribute to housing delivery in the areas that truly need it, and while the role presents its challenges, the satisfaction of successful completions of projects I've contributed to is highly rewarding.”

Commenting on her achievement, Amy said: “I am really proud to have been awarded this accolade and it has been all the easier working in a job I absolutely love. I have a huge passion for sales and customer care and I take a lot of pride in doing a good job for the business and, particularly, our customers. Persimmon provides an incredible environment to grow through the business with fantastic training and it’s great to put that into practice by helping people buy their dream home in the areas they live in.”
