Persimmon welcome MP to Springfield Meadows
01 May 2025

Persimmon Homes East Wales were delighted to welcome Jessica Morden MP, Chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party and Member of Parliament for Newport East, to our Springfield Meadows site in Llanwern recently.
Part of the £1bn Glan Llyn regeneration, this phase will deliver 178 quality new homes – including 10% affordable in accordance with the Section 106 agreement with an additional 8.5% being transferred to a housing association – supporting local housing needs and community growth.
Over 50% of our buyers on site to date have used Help to Buy Wales, reflecting strong demand from first-time buyers and local families.
Whilst touring the site, Jessica and figures from the business discussed the benefits of Help to Buy Wales, the importance of the British Government’s housing agenda, and how the housebuilding sector can contribute to national economic goals.
Persimmon were recently joined by Jessica, alongside her colleagues Newport City Council Leader Cllr Dimitri Batrouni and Newport East MS John Griffiths, to mark a Community Champions donation to Newport Cricket Club back in January.
The five-star housebuilder currently has two, three, four, and five-bed homes for sale at Springfield Meadows, starting at £274,995.
Lee Hawker, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes East Wales, said:
“Persimmon prides itself on working closely with the communities in which we build and their representatives, so we were delighted to welcome Jessica Morden MP to Springfield Meadows.
“This was an invaluable opportunity for both parties to talk about how we can work together to meet mutual goals in the public interest, especially when we know the social and economic benefits of building plenty of high-quality homes.
“We thank Jessica for visiting and hearing about our future plans across Newport and the East Wales region.”
