Pioneering local gym celebrates donation from North East

Gym Possible

Benton based Gym Possible is celebrating after securing £4,000 from our North East business.

The funding comes after the gym’s founder Drew Graham applied for a donation through Persimmons Community Champions initiative.

Claire Lillie, Sales Manager at our North East business, was on hand recently to present the cheque to Drew and members of the Gym Possible team in the presence of local councillor Karen Clark.

The money will be used to fund a specialist personal trainer for those with physical disabilities so they can access the gyms equipment to their fullest capabilities.

The Community Champions initiative is open to all local charities, schools and community groups looking for funding. £180,000 is available every quarter with winners receiving between £1,000 and £6,000.

Drew Graham, Founder and CEO of Gym Possible, commented: “Receiving this generous grant from Persimmon Homes will help us fund a specialist trainer to be on site at our accessible Gym in Longbenton.

“Having a trainer on site is invaluable to our members who all have physical disabilities and will help us to continue our mission of making exercise accessible.

“We are passionate about improving the physical and mental health of the members of our community so can’t thank Persimmon Homes enough for their support!”

Councillor Karen Clark, Cabinet Member responsible for Public Health and Wellbeing at North Tyneside Council, commented: “It was a pleasure to meet the team at Gym Possible this week and learn more about the organisation’s roots and their plans for the future.

“The group have created a real community feel and positive space for all those who attend their gym and I would encourage anyone with a physical disability to consider getting involved.

“It is also great to see businesses such as Persimmon Homes supporting local organisations and making a difference in our local communities.”

Claire Lillie, Sales Manager at our North East team, commented: “It was great to visit Drew and the team at Gym Possible recently, the work they do for local people with physical disabilities is truly inspiring to see.”

“At Persimmon we are committed to having a lasting positive impact on local people through our Community Champions initiative and I am confident this donation will do just that.”

“I wish all the team at Gym Possible the very best for the future as they continue to grow.”
