Planners give green light to new homes in Easton

06 April 2021

Planners have given the green light to 291 new homes in Easton, as the first phase of a 780 new build development.

Persimmon Anglia aims to start work on the site, off Dereham Road, in June this year, following approval by South Norfolk Council.

The development, to be known as Festival Park, will include 291 homes, ranging from two to five bedrooms.

John Eldridge, director in charge at Persimmon Anglia, said: “We are very pleased to secure reserved matters planning consent for the first phase of this scheme, which will deliver much-needed new homes, including 67 designated as affordable homes for local people.”

The overall project will being a raft of infrastructure investment to the local community, including land for Easton Parish Council to build a new village hall, a 1.5 hectare village green, a number of play areas and open green spaces together with replacement allotments.

Persimmon will also transfer land to the Education Authority to be used as an extension to the primary school. Land is to be made available for a village shop, and the development will also deliver significant improvements to cycle and pedestrian links from Easton to Longwater.

John Eldridge added: “Easton is a charming and popular village, so we are excited to become part of such a warm and friendly community and pleased that the development will contribute to village facilities.

“Our exciting project will not only provide much needed new homes it will also breathe economic life into the area. A development of this scale has the potential to create more than 2,000 jobs – both those directly employed in the construction of the site, and indirectly through the supply chain and additional spending within the local community.”
