Plans submitted for new homes in Greater Manchester
13 February 2024
Plans for 57 new homes in the Standish area of Wigan have been submitted to Wigan Borough Council.
A mix of new houses for local homebuyers ranging from one-bedroom bungalows through 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes.
11 homes will be transferred to a local housing association with 4 properties to be made available to qualifying purchasers at a discounted rate via the First Homes scheme.
We've also committed to a local homes guarantee meaning local homebuyers will have the opportunity to purchase open market properties for a specified time before general sale.
Built to new building regulations, the new homes will be zero carbon ready and benefit from improved energy efficiency, helping reduce energy bills for homeowners.
All homes will come fitted with electric vehicle chargers, PV panels and air-source heat pumps.
The site will provide a 10% net gain overall in biodiversity value and plans include 1.6 acres of public open space which is over a quarter of the land.
Chris Kershaw, Development Director at North West, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Wigan Council and local stakeholders to deliver high quality new housing.
“At our most recent development in Standish, over 75% of homebuyers moved from within Wigan and over a third of purchasers moved from within the Standish postcode.
“We’re delighted therefore to be offering a local homes guarantee to support local first-time buyers, families and downsizers alike.”
