A booming junior football club in Gloucester has received backing from Persimmon Homes.
Tuffley Rovers Football Club is seeing unprecedented demand for its under-seven and under-eight teams.
The club has received a £1,000 donation from Persimmon to help pay for additional training facilities, equipment and pitches.
The donation comes through Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme, which supports 64 groups across the country every month.
Nick Maiolo, of the club, said: “Tuffley has expanded significantly in recent years and, consequently, our younger age groups have expanded five-fold – with no sign of demand slowing down.
“We’re now at capacity with our training facilities and need to expand so that we don’t have to turn away budding footballers in our community.
“This generous donation from Persimmon will help us source extra facilities and also to buy new equipment. It is greatly appreciated.”
Persimmon is currently building stunning new homes at its Yew Tree Gardens development on Grange Road in Tuffley.
Carly Spear, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “Central to the Persimmon ethos is supporting the communities in which we are building – and Community Champions is one way in which we do that.
“It’s fantastic that so many young people want to play football in Tuffley. We hope that this money will help the club provide sporting opportunities for as many people as possible.”
