Prospects are looking good for charity hospice

22 June 2012

Persimmon Homes Wessex has announced its support for Prospect Hospice; a charity dedicated to end of life care.

The housebuilder based in Malmesbury has nominated Prospect Hospice as its chosen charity for 2012 and has pledged to raise vital funds through a year-long calendar of fundraising events and initiatives.

The decision follows a renewed effort to focus on local charities and community programmes after supporting national charities in previous years.

Prospect Hospice is a registered charity, which brings comfort, care and confidence to those living with cancer and other serious conditions in Swindon and parts of North Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

For over thirty years, the charity has been the only provider of dedicated end of life care for the local community and is an invaluable support mechanism for anyone affected by serious illness, including family and friends.

Persimmon Homes Wessex managing director, Steve Roche, said: “It’s extremely important for us to support the local communities in which we build.

“Like any charity, the work that goes into providing care and support is humbling and it takes a dedicated group of individuals working round the clock to maintain its support.

“Prospect Hospice is a superb charity and we look forward to raising as much money as possible for this great cause.”

Sheryl Crouch, head of fundraising at Prospect Hospice said: “We are delighted that Persimmon Homes Wessex has chosen us as their charity of the year for 2012, and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in this decision.  It costs more than £5m each year for Prospect Hospice to provide dedicated care for 1,800 local patients and their families, so Persimmon Homes’ support for our work is extremely welcome.”
