Pupils given sneak-peak of their new state-of-the-art school at St Ederyns

Local pupils have been given a sneak-peak of their new state-of-the-art school at St Ederyns.
St Edeyrns is a significant development in the North East of the city, and the school lies within the 1000-home site.
The school is being funded by Persimmon as part of its substantial contribution to the local community, which will also deliver a district centre, community facility and allotments.
The new school will host the relocation of St Mellons CIW Primary School and is part of a strategic solution to rebalance primary school provision in parts of North East Cardiff.
Pupils from St Mellons were given a tour of the new facility last week, which is being constructed by Halsall. They had the opportunity to meet with members of Persimmon and the site team, who shared their expertise and knowledge of the construction process.
Through the course of development, Persimmon has also made a number of sizable financial contributions, including over £4m for bus services, £312k in highways and transport improvements, £386k for the Rhymney Trail upgrades, and an affordable housing contribution of just under £10m to Cardiff Council.
Construction of the new school is expected to be ready for occupation later this year.
