Region supports village carnival

A £400 donation ensured that a village carnival could continue to go from strength to strength
Persimmon Homes Lancashire pledged the cash to the Wigton Carnival, held on June 23.
Before the event, Wigton’s ex-mayor, Paul Radcliffe said: “On behalf of Wigton Carnival committee we’re pleased to welcome Persimmon Homes as one of the main sponsors to the event.
“We’re very grateful for the £400 towards the running costs and are expecting a great day.”
The carnival saw bright and colourful floats parade through the village, with themes including the celebration of the 750th anniversary of Wigton's Market Charter and the Olympics.
Carnival goers were able to enjoy a range of music from a brass band to a Scottish pipe band and, of course, the carnival queen was in attendance.
Diane England, sales director for Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said: “At Persimmon Homes we like to support local groups and charities, as we become part of the close-knit local communities where we are working.
“The carnival was a great day.”
Persimmon is offering a range of two, three and four bedroom homes at its Scholar's Green development in Wigton.
