Regional support for charity fun day

Persimmon Homes Midlands pledged its support to a community fun day in aid of Taylan’s Project, raising funds for Brain Tumour Research
The event, on Sunday 20th May at Calvert Green in Buckinghamshire, included family entertainment, refreshments and a balloon race.
Taylan’s Project was founded to raise funds for research into brain tumours, in memory of Taylan Rawlinson, who died aged seven from the condition.
Claire Lambert, head of sales and marketing for Persimmon Homes (Midlands), said: “The event took place only a stone’s throw from our new homes development at The Steeples in Calvert, so when we heard about Taylan’s Project and the community fun day we were determined to help such a worthy cause and were pleased to join as one of the event’s sponsors.
“At Persimmon we like to support local groups and charities, as we become part of the close-knit local communities where we are working.”
Event organiser Figen Rawlinson, Taylan’s mum, said: “We have been overwhelmed that Persimmon were happy to help us and it has restored my faith in large companies. They have shown they are not just about building houses, they also help the community.
“Persimmon’s donation makes a huge difference. It means all the money we made on the day can go towards vital research. That means a lot to us and we’ve been touched by their generosity.
“The focus of the day is to raise vital funds for the charity as well as celebrate what would have been Taylan’s tenth birthday. Having this day in his memory, and helping to raise money and awareness to support other families, is very special to us.”
Visitors were treated to appearances by three times Guinness World Record holder and Football Freestyler, Daniel Cutting, and the amazing ‘Bubble Man’, Felipe Gonzales.
