Renters get onto the property ladder at The Ridge
17 November 2012
If recent figures are the start of things to come, it appears that first time buyers are returning to the market with a seven per cent increase in mortgages being offered to property ladder novices. Following this positive trend, leading house builder, Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, has today pledged further support to first time buyers at its flagship development in Barnsley through its bespoke buying packages.
Located on Roebuck Hill, The Ridge is Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire’s most sought after development in the region and a firm favourite amongst first time buyers when searching for houses for sale in Barnsley.
However, enticing more buyers into the area, the development is now offering those new to the property ladder the opportunity to take advantage of the FirstBuy scheme.
The FirstBuy scheme has proved invaluable to many people hoping to get a foot on the property ladder The Ridge by making buying much more affordable. FirstBuy is offered through equity loan funding of up to 20% of the purchase price split equally between the Homes and Communities Agency and Persimmon, with purchasers being required to raise funding (a mortgage plus deposit) of at least 80% of the purchase price.
Commenting on the increase in buyer activity at The Ridge, Simon Whalley, Persimmon Homes sales director for West Yorkshire says: “It’s been a difficult period for those wanting to buy their first home and many have been stuck in the renting cycle and unable to raise a sufficient mortgage deposit. Therefore it’s a good sign to see that the situation is improving and we hope the support we’ve pledged to offer continues to keep this trend increasing.”
First time buyers can buy the Kensington, a three bedroom, three storey property type at The Ridge development with FirstBuy.
Complete with integral garage, utility room and ample storage space on the ground floor, including a handy guest bedroom, the Kensington also offers luxury first floor living, with modern kitchen diner and large lounge – perfect for entertaining and making the most of the development’s great views. On the second floor, visitors will find a stylish master bedroom with ensuite and a second bedroom, again with ensuite - it’s not wonder the house has received such a great reception.
Simon adds: “First time buyers should come and visit The Ridge and speak with our sales advisor to see what support is available to them, as often we’ve found that buying can be cheaper than renting.”
