Riders from Anglia take on 100 mile challenge to support Priscilla Bacon Hospice

26 April 2023

Four riders from our Anglia region will be taking on the 100 mile ‘Tour de Broads’ cycle event to support the Priscilla Bacon Hospice.

The hospice has been selected as Anglia’s charity of the year and the team are hoping to raise £5,000 this year. Jorden Knell, Karl Dawson, Mathew House and Colin Stearman have bravely agreed to take on the 100 mile route that starts at Plumstead, heads south to Reedham and then takes in 5 of the broads heading north before looping back round to help meet this goal.

Jorden Knell, Head of Sales at Persimmon Homes Anglia said:

“The Priscila Bacon Lodge is an inspiring local charity which provides exceptional care to patients, and support for families, when they need it most.

“The new lodge will enable all those who work at the hospice to do even more and we can’t think of a local organisation more deserving of being our selected charity of the year.

“I sincerely hope that all the hard work and training pays off, we complete the ride and can raise lots of money for this excellent cause”

As well as the bike ride, staff from the region have also been undertaking a range of other activities to help the Priscila Bacon Hospice reach its £12.5 million fundraising target. The hospice has already raised over £11.5 million but is still looking for an additional £750,000 to meet its fundraising objective.

This will enable the hospice to complete the construction of its brand new lodge which will offer modern facilities, additional capacity and a range of other services to help support patients and families. It is also perfectly located next to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, the University of East Anglia and the Norwich Research Park.

Amy Bramble, Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager at Priscilla Bacon Hospice added:

“We‘re really excited that Persimmon Homes have joined our 500 Club and pledged to raise £5000 before the year is out. It’s great to have their support and we’re looking forward to working more closely with them over the coming months”
