Rugby club scores community cash for under-9s
22 March 2022

Market Harborough rugby club has scored a £1,000 boost to help its under-9s team.
The funding is being delivered through the Community Champions scheme, which seeks to support grassroots organisations helping to improve the lives of local people.
Claire Dearsley, sales director for Midlands region, said: “We recognise how important local sports clubs are in building strong and vibrant communities, so we are pleased to be able to help Market Harborough Rugby Union Club with this much-needed funding.”
The club, based at Northampton Road, runs male and female teams at all levels from under-6 minis to its 1st XV, women’s and veterans’ squads. The donation from Persimmon will be used to purchase heavy duty gazebos, providing shelter for under-9s players and their families on training and match days.
Claire added: “Young people have been particularly hard hit throughout the pandemic, with both their schooling and leisure activities impacted, so we are always happy to support voluntary groups looking to improve the quality of life for children in our region.
“Our Community Champions scheme was set up to recognise and reward good causes in local communities and provides two donations of up to £1,000 every month for local groups, who can apply through a simple online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity”
