Saint Michael’s Hospice receives donation
18 May 2023
A Harrogate-based hospice has received a grant of £1,000 from our Yorkshire region, to help purchase essential equipment.
Saint Michael’s Hospice has been based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, for over 30 years and provides tailored care and support, both from its hospice and in the community, to those living with terminal illnesses across the Harrogate district.
The hospice has received the donation after applying for funding from our Community Champions scheme which supports local charities and good causes nationwide.
Tim Nixon, Sales Director of Persimmon Yorkshire, recently visited Saint Michael’s Hospice to hand over a cheque for £1,000 which will be used to help fund the purchase of everyday essential medical equipment such as needles, dressings and sterilising equipment.
Our Community Champions programme was established in 2015 and has already donated more than £3 million to over 3,500 good causes across Great Britain. Donations of up to £6,000 are available to the local community and charitable groups every quarter with applications received via the Community Champions website.
North Yorkshire Council’s leader, Cllr Carl Les, said: “Saint Michael’s Hospice has given so much support to those needing its specialist care and their families throughout the past 30 years, and it is such a valuable asset to North Yorkshire. It's very heartening to see businesses supporting charities, especially those as key to North Yorkshire’s communities as hospices with the services that they provide.”
Lynda Green, Head of Nursing Services at Saint Michael’s, said: “Our care and support is powered by our community, and the generous donation from Persimmon Yorkshire will fund vital equipment to continue providing our high quality, compassionate care for those living locally with terminal illness when they need it most.”
Tim Nixon, Sales Director of Persimmon Yorkshire, commented: “Making sure we have a positive impact on the communities we operate within is at the core of what we do at Persimmon. Our Community Champions scheme supports local charities and organisations that rely on funding to continue to operate. We’re really pleased to be able to support Saint Michael’s Hospice to continue the remarkable end-of-life care they provide to people throughout North Yorkshire.”
