School library dream boosted by donation

A West Midlands school is one step closer to realising its ambition of a library for pupils, thanks to Persimmon Homes West Midlands.
Stowlawn Primary School, in Green Park Avenue, Bilston, serves the local community. Teachers and friends of the school believe that an attractive library can stimulate children and help them on the way to a better future, as teacher Hayley Sharma says:
“A library will be a fantastic way to enable our children to have access to more books and reading resources, and develop a love that reading brings. We want to provide an engaging library that can not only encourage our children’s reading skills but help their educational outcomes.”
The school contacted Persimmon Homes through its Community Champions programme, which allocates funds to good causes every month. As a result, the housebuilder has awarded £1,000 towards the library project.
“We were thrilled to hear we’d been successful” added Hayley. “This money will go towards starting a library for all children to experience and enjoy.”
Persimmon Homes West Midlands, managing director Stephen Cleveley said: “We are committed to supporting the communities in which we operate, and we believe the Stowlawn library project is a truly worthwhile cause.”
Every month the company’s West Midlands team selects two projects for financial assistance, from the applications received. For more information on Community Champions visit: www.persimmonhomes.com/community-champions.
