Schoolgirl’s design inspires Felixstowe showhome

A Felixstowe schoolgirl has left a lasting legacy at a new homes development in the town by helping to design the site’s showhome.
Kayla Straughier, a student at SET Causton School, set the tone for the house at the Trelawny Place development by inspiring the style of the child’s bedroom, focusing on a jungle and parrot theme.
The 11-year-old was invited to the development as guest of honour to view the furnished and decorated room.
Persimmon Suffolk sales director Lucy Woodhall explained: “The showhome is always a key focus for activity at a new homes site, helping prospective purchasers to imagine for themselves how they could live at that location.
“When we were planning the house for our landmark Trelawny Place development, we reached out to the local school for their help and inspiration – and our interior designers were completely blown away by Kayla’s mood board.
“She set out a very clear vision for a bright and cheerful room, with lots of references to nature and animals, making it easy for the design team to translate her ideas into reality. In fact, they carried her influence into decorative features elsewhere in the house.
“The result is an exciting room which creates a lasting impression and talking point for visitors to Trelawny Place.”
The development, on Candlet Road, offers a selection of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes priced from £262,000 to suit a range of local buyers.
