Scouts’ good deed for Ixworth community consultation
05 January 2022
Ixworth scouts will be able to attend next year’s summer camp after delivering a good deed for Persimmon Suffolk.
The scout group was given a donation in thanks for its leader delivering more than 1,000 leaflets across the area, inviting local people to attend a public consultation event.
The leaflet detailed how people could contribute to Persimmon’s plans for a development of 170 new homes on land at Crown Lane in the village.
Ixworth Scout leader Paul Hunt said: “We are so grateful for being given the opportunity to help Persimmon. Their donation will be greatly appreciated by our group after what has been a tough two years.
“The money will enable our scouts to attend the 2022 Suffolk Punch Summer camp. The camp is so important as it allows the group to heal any mental stresses that they have endured during covid.”
Ian Hamilton, managing director for Suffolk, added: “We would like to thank Paul for helping us to get these leaflets out quickly and at very short notice. The last two years have been extremely difficult for many voluntary groups, and we are so glad to be able to work in partnership with one of our community’s scout groups in this way.”
The 35.19-acre site, on Crown Lane, is planned to bring 170 much-needed new homes as well as land for a future primary school. A third of the homes will be 30% affordable housing for the local people.
