Six week art course for young people hit hard by Covid
17 June 2021
An Ashford based group that helps young people hit hard by the Covid pandemic has received funding for a six week art course.
Branch & Brush CIC has been awarded £1,000 by Persimmon Homes South East through its Building Futures programme.
Casey Brett, from Branch & Brush, said: “This funding is the best news, thank you so much.
“It will enable us to provide a six week art course to 10 young people, free of charge. The money will ensure we can register with the exam board and have access to a range of art resources, and those taking the course will gain a recognised arts qualification.”
Branch & Brush provides wellbeing and community cohesion through arts education, clubs and workshops. It is aimed at youths who have been impacted by the pandemic who are lonely, isolated and/or vulnerable in rural and village locations. Funding has previously been received from the local council and arts council which helped provide a free art club via zoom throughout lockdown.
