Skydiving for Daisy's Dream
10 August 2021
Sales Manager Karen and Meg, a sales administrator, both based at our Thames Valley head office in Camberley, finally got to complete their 15,000 feet charity skydive last weekend.
“Words cannot describe that initial feeling of falling out of the plane!” – said daredevil Karen Watts this week following her skydiving fundraiser with colleague Meg Smithers.
The pair, along with Karen’s friend Parmjit Nijjer, braved the skies at Old Sarum Park, Salisbury – bringing them ever closer to their £5,000 fundraising target in aid of charity Daisy’s Dream.
Daisy’s Dream supports children and families across Berkshire facing and following bereavement. Their professionally qualified Therapeutic Practitioners are on hand to offer families the support and guidance they need. All of their work is provided free of charge.
After the jump, Karen said: “Words cannot describe that initial feeling of falling out of the plane, it was terrifying but also very surreal. I keep looking into the sky and still can’t get my head around the fact I was free falling above the clouds… it’s crazy. Would I do it again? No, but I am so pleased I did it - and what makes it even better is how much money we have raised for Daisy’s Dream.”
And Meg added: “It’s an amazing feeling knowing we were able to raise money to help families who need it the most. An unforgettable experience and one which I will definitely be doing again!”
The jump was part of the 2021 Daisy’s Dream Skydiving campaign which is aiming to raise £15,000 for the charity.
Ben Felton, managing director at Thames Valley, said: “We are so incredibly proud of Karen and Meg, not only for having the courage to jump out of a plane at 15,000 feet, but rallying the support of friends, family and colleagues to raise so much money for such a fantastic cause. This money will go a long way in offering children and families the support they need at times of bereavement.”
