According to Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, great things do come in smaller, one bedroom packages.
In the last six months Persimmon Homes has seen a significant trend in buyers looking for one bedroom properties across all its regional developments, but in particular at neighbouring sites Mere Brook in Pocklington and Kings Court in Market Weighton.
The house builder, claims that while once one bedroom homes were perceived as just a foothold onto the property ladder, attitudes have dramatically changed.
Managing director of Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, Andrew Bowes states: “When a house hunter visits one of our developments they always have a wish list of what they’re looking for in a home. Whether that includes off road car parking, a large kitchen or a south facing view we try and meet their needs. However, in recent months we’ve noticed that house hunters, especially those buying alone or with a partner, have struggled to buy one bedroom homes that offer space and functionality so we’ve created The Shrewsbury property type – and the interest has been unprecedented.
“According to a recent Office of National Statistics survey of the UK’s population the average household size currently stands at 2.4, with one person occupancy accounting for 29 per cent of houses in the UK, a rise of 11per cent since 1971 . Therefore, it’s not surprising that home buyers are demanding properties that fit their needs.”
Available to buy at the houses for sale in Pocklington, Mere Brook and the houses for sale in Market Weighton, Kings Court, Persimmon Homes Yorkshire is urging anyone considering the benefits of one bedroom living to visit their show homes at both, Mere Brook and Kings Court to find out more about before it’s too late.
