Persimmon homeowner and brand ambassador Keighley McCabe has more than 8,000 followers on Instagram, with her monochrome interior design and beautiful family pictures inspiring thousands. We spoke to Keighley about life at home, as shares her tips on home-schooling her daughter Renee at their County Durham Souter home. “I am a very organised person and I quickly realised the key to making this a success is to try and keep a school-like routine for us. School has sent home loads of worksheets for the children to do, and some useful links to educational websites, so I have been looking at those and doing my planning. A teacher shared a planner and I have got folders full of our activities ready for every day of the week."

“I have used my Insta to contact other people and teachers and we have been sharing our ideas. I also have 14-month-old Bella at home, so I have to manage our activities so that she can be involved in them. One of Renee’s friends had her birthday last weekend and we gave her a board game that we already have at home. Because of not being able to mix with other people her mum and I are planning to Skype and the girls can play the game together, but in their own homes by moving each other’s counters. We have been doing the worksheets and the standard numeracy and literacy, but we are looking forward to more activities around the house too. We will be getting them involved in some of the tasks such as the cooking, cleaning and gardening and of course we will be burning off our energy playing on the trampoline in the garden.”
