South West appoints new construction director

20 February 2023

A new construction director has been appointed in the South West region.

Harlan Bevis, who has 30 years leadership experience in the housing industry, joins Persimmon from Barratt David Wilson where he served as a construction director.

He will be responsible for driving construction performance in the South West against build targets, quality targets, and implementation of group policies and procedures.

A serial NHBC Pride in the Job winner, commenting on his new role, Harlan said:

“I am delighted to have joined Persimmon Homes in the South West.

“The opportunity to work for a company embarking on an exciting period of transformation was incredibly enticing and I’m looking forward to putting my stamp on the business.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my first few weeks in the role with a hardworking and quality local workforce, and the changes being implemented across the business at a group and local level are being seriously recognised across the market.

“I’m looking forward to continuing the improvements in the quality of our build, placemaking and ensuring we deliver the best possible homes for local people across our various sites in the South West.”

Harlan entered the industry from school, working as a carpenter, before progressing into roles as a foreman and site manager.

He joined Barratt David Wilson in 1995 and has also enjoyed a stint overseas working in the Middle East as a project director on numerous residential schemes in Oman and Qatar.

Harlan has years of industry experience and a proven track record for leading teams, delivering the highest levels of safety management, quality standards, and business objectives, whilst understanding the requirements of key partners and clients.

Welcoming Harlan to the position, Managing Director in the South West, Dan Heathcote, said:

“It’s been a pleasure to welcome Harlan to the Persimmon fold in the South West.

“Harlan will oversee our construction teams and the build of much-needed new homes for local families across the region at our various sites from Taunton to Exeter, as we deliver on our vision to be the nation’s leading housebuilder.

“His knowledge and experience of the industry is second to none, and his appointment will only serve to strengthen our consistent construction of good quality homes for local people across the South West.

“Persimmon South West is delighted to welcome Harlan on board as we continue to deliver a positive legacy for our customers, communities and stakeholders.”
