South West team gets behind charity
13 March 2020
Staff at a leading regional housebuilding firm have taken a vote and chosen Exeter-based charity Dream-A-Way to be their good cause for the year.
Staff at Persimmon Homes South West voted for the charity to benefit from a host of fundraising activities over the next 12 months. Dream- A-Way is a unique charity, created and run only by volunteers. The charity prides itself on helping to make dreams come true for Devon’s children and adults with disabilities or life affecting health conditions.
Currently it helps nearly 3,000 people, of which more than 400 have enjoyed wonderful days out, more than 1,200 guests have experienced the beautiful Devon seaside in one of its luxury caravans at Devon Cliffs Holiday Park, at Sandy Bay near Exmouth, and more than 100 people each year have experienced their dream holiday.
Organiser Carley Coombes, PA to the Director in charge, said: “Every year the team here raises money for good causes in a variety of different ways and this year's vote came out in favour of Dream-A-Way. We were all inspired by the fact the charity is run by volunteers and no-one is paid a wage or expenses, so every penny goes towards the valuable charitable work the team delivers. We are all very much looking forward to getting into the fundraising and already have plans for dress down days and bake sales as well as our hugely popular annual Christmas raffle and we hope to handover a generous sum at the end of the year.”
