Space4 opens its doors to Birmingham City Council

01 February 2023

Key members of Birmingham City Council were welcomed to the Space4 timber frame manufacturing facility to hear about our investment into sustainable construction and skills development in Birmingham.

Cllr Ian Ward, Leader of Birmingham City Council and Cllr Sharon Thompson, Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness were given a tour of Space4, meeting with carpentry apprentices Sophie Grahame and Brandon McCurley at the Central office to learn more about us and our skills and training schemes.

Cllr Ian Ward, Leader of Birmingham City Council, said: "Birmingham is a growing city and building the decent, affordable and green homes we need over the next decade requires a collaborative effort. Persimmon Homes are clearly committed to that journey and also to developing the sustainable construction skills needed."

Cllr Sharon Thompson, Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness, said: "It was great to see this fantastic initiative right here in Birmingham and through the Space4 facility, Persimmon Homes are contributing to our target of reducing the carbon footprint of housing throughout the city."

Neil Williams, Managing Director for Central, said: “It was great to welcome Cllr Ward and Cllr Thompson to Space4, showing them our commitment to sustainable, modern methods of construction and our investment in jobs and skills throughout the region.

“As one of the largest developers in the West Midlands, we’re committed to creating successful and vibrant communities across the region and beyond – and ensuring that when we do this, sustainability and innovation are at the forefront of our work.”
