Staffordshire-based charity receives £1,000 donation from Persimmon.
Home-Start Staffordshire Moorlands has received the donation after making an application for funding to our Community Champions scheme.
Home-Start Staffordshire offers volunteer support to parents and their children coping with difficult life circumstances across the Staffordshire Moorlands district.
The charity helps parents cope with the strains of day-to-day life and provides them with the skills to raise a family. Support is offered to families struggling with various personal issues, such as post-natal depression and isolation. Home-Start also provides support for families affected by physical health problems, disability and additional needs, bereavement, and financial worries.
The £1,000 donation from our Community Champions scheme will cover the charity’s day-to-day operating costs.
Louise Walker, Manager, Home-Start Staffordshire Moorlands said: “We’re delighted and very grateful to Persimmon for this donation which will make a real difference to families with young children in the Staffordshire Moorlands district.
“The COVID crisis had such an impact on the lives of families with young children, which has, for many, been further exacerbated by the cost-of-living crisis. By matching trained, vetted volunteers with families needing help in the home and offering groups in areas where there is limited provision, we can provide much-needed non-judgemental, compassionate, friendly support.
“At a time when our fundraising income has been hit – this support from Persimmon is really valued in helping ensure more families can benefit from our service.
At Persimmon we have donated over £1.5 million to charities, community groups and local organisations nationwide via its Community Champions scheme over the last two years. Donations of up to £6,000 are available to local community and charitable groups every quarter with applications received via the Community Champions website.
Karl Wiseman, Deputy Regional Chairman at Persimmon, said: “At Persimmon, what we do is about much more than just bricks and mortar; it’s about building homes and communities.
“We always look to leave a positive impact on the places we operate in, and our Community Champions scheme allows us to give a boost to important causes local to our developments.
“The role Home-Start Staffordshire play in improving the lives of families across Staffordshire is commendable, and we’re proud to support this family-centric charity.”
Persimmon is rated five stars for customer satisfaction by the independent House Builder’s Federation and has ten developments in Staffordshire including Udall Grange in Stone and Foxfields in Stoke-on-Trent.
