Stoneyhill Primary secures £1,000 from local home builder

A local primary school has been announced as one of Persimmon’s Community Champions – receiving a £1,000 donation from the local home builder.
Stoneyhill Primary School in Musselburgh has been fundraising for new outdoor educational equipment for children of all ages. The school set its sights on fundraising to improve the pupils’ trim trail – an outdoor assault course – which is in need of repairs and the Parent Council has been hard at work to reach their fundraising goal.
The £1,000 donation from Persimmon East Scotland is part of their Community Champions scheme, which supports good causes in areas where the company builds new homes. The scheme has seen over £1.5m donated to local charities, clubs and organisations across the UK since 2021.
Kate Whiteley, Stoneyhill Primary School Head Teacher, said:
“The school community is grateful for this very generous contribution to our outdoor play developments. The children are being consulted about the best ways to use all the funds raised. It is a fitting legacy for Persimmon in this community to enhance the children’s fitness and fun outdoors. Every penny will be appreciated.”
Neil Parry, Persimmon East Scotland Managing Director, said:
“I'm delighted that we can assist the pupils and staff at Stoneyhill Primary School with the repair of their trim trail, which will bring real benefits to pupils.
“The school has done a fantastic job fundraising for the repairs and I hope that our donation can help move the project one step closer to completion. We want to leave a positive, lasting legacy in the areas where we operate and supporting local initiatives like the playground project is a big part of that.”
