Persimmon students selected for advanced course

Persimmon Homes apprentices begin advanced craft course at South Lanarkshire College

Three dedicated apprentices from Persimmon Homes have embarked on an Advanced Craft bricklaying course at South Lanarkshire College, enhancing their skills and knowledge in the construction industry. The apprentices, Chantelle Muir and Billie Murray from Ayrshire, and Dale Robertson from Dunblane, were selected due to the exceptional effort and skill they have displayed over the course of their apprenticeship so for.

The advanced course aims to build on the apprentices’ existing skillsets, equipping them with practical expertise and advanced knowledge to excel in the industry. It focuses on developing their professional effectiveness and expanding their capabilities in bricklaying.

William Smith, Regional Apprenticeship Manager at Persimmon Homes, said:

“We are incredibly proud of Chantelle, Billie, and Dale for their commitment to advancing their craft. Their selection for this course is a testament to their dedication and enthusiasm for bricklaying.

“At Persimmon, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of talent and providing opportunities for our apprentices to grow and develop.”

Dale Robertson, Apprentice Bricklayer, said:

"Being selected for the Advanced Craft course is a fantastic opportunity. I’m excited to build on what I’ve already learned and push myself further in bricklaying.

“Persimmon’s support has been incredible – they’ve given me the tools and confidence to grow in this trade, and I can’t wait to bring these new skills back to the site."

Fraser Waugh, Curriculum Manager at South Lanarkshire, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Chantelle, Billie and Dale along with the other 8 apprentices who are now extending their skills and knowledge within the advanced Craft. We hope this helps them on site and also in their future professional development”

Persimmon Homes’ apprenticeship programme continues to grow, with 10 new apprentices starting this year. The company is dedicated to supporting its trainees by providing all the tools and equipment required for their roles, ensuring that financial barriers don’t stand in the way of their success.
