Support for Suffolk good causes
11 September 2020
The Suffolk branches of two leading national charities have each been selected to receive £1,000 donations from Persimmon Homes.
Marie Curie Suffolk and Alzheimer's Society Suffolk were awarded the funding from our Community Champions initiative which supports grassroots groups and charities in areas where we are building.
Persimmon Homes Suffolk makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month and the scheme’s online application form can be found at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.
Ian Hamilton, director in charge, said: “We are proud to support the local volunteers who care for people within our communities, and both of these respected charities deliver important services to local people.”
Marie Curie provides night-time nursing care for terminally ill people in their own homes and a telephone bereavement service offering much-needed support for Suffolk families. Persimmon’s donation will help to fund a week’s nursing care for one local patient.
The Covid-19 lockdown has left people with dementia more isolated than ever. Alzheimer's Society Suffolk mobilised its Dementia Advisors to deliver a regular personalised telephone support lifeline for more than 13,000 vulnerable people and their carers in the county.
