Supporting local groups

14 May 2018

Persimmon Suffolk has awarded grants of £1,000 to two local groups supporting people of all ages in Suffolk.

Framlingham Castle Bowls Club and Ketton Early Birds will each receive the funding through the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme. The match-funding initiative aims to assist local groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment for local people.

Simon Wood, director in charge of Persimmon Homes Suffolk, said: “Voluntary groups, charities and sports clubs are the lifeblood of our rural community, so we are pleased to be able to help these two worthy organisations, which both work hard to enhance their neighbourhoods.”

The long-established Framlingham Castle Bowls Club provides recreation and community cohesion for people of all ages in the town. Members have been fundraising to replace the club’s elderly mower, ensuring their ground is maintained to enable people to continue meeting up and playing bowls. The grant from Persimmon will help towards their £6,000 fundraising target.

Ketton Early Birds is a registered charity providing childcare for families in Kedington. Based on the Kedington Primary Academy site, the charity delivers a high quality learning experience at breakfast and after-school clubs. Persimmon’s donation will help to upgrade the kitchen facilities. Anyone interesting in helping to raise funds can contact the charity via www.kettonearlybirds.co.uk.

Community groups, charities and good causes across the county have benefited thanks to the donations from Persimmon Homes. Organisations can apply for match funding by completing a simple online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity. The scheme invites local groups and charities to bid for cash from a £750,000 national fund, with two donations of up to £1,000 being made locally each month.
