SURPRISE CHEQUE FOR CHILDREN’S CHARITY ARRIVES IN THE POST!
06 March 2020
A leading housebuilder surprised a Northwich children’s charity by popping a cheque for almost £1,000 in the post!
Dave Hodgson, sales director at Persimmon Homes North West, sent the cheque for £932 with a compliment slip saying ‘surprise’ to The Joshua Tree, a charity providing refuge and support to families affected by the devastating experience of childhood cancer.
The money was raised by staff at Persimmon’s Urmston office over a series of weeks during Dress Down Friday – where staff hand over cash to swap business attire for their own clothes. The money is counted each month and when there is a substantial amount it is handed over to charity.
Dave and the North West office have long been supporters of The Joshua Tree, which is currently building a fit for purpose Support Centre in Cheshire to provide much-needed time together away from the stress, isolation and side effects that the regime of childhood cancer treatment and confinement of hospitals can bring.
He said: “We are so proud to be associated with The Joshua Tree and everyone at Persimmon Homes North West has contributed in some way to raising money for this inspirational charity.”
Pippa Watson-Peck, Fundraising Manager at The Joshua Tree, said: “It is amazing to see Persimmon still supporting The Joshua Tree after many years.
“Every penny really does make a difference and as we have recently taken ownership of the new support centre. There is still work to be done with the completion of the interior decorating and fit out.
“The money raised will certainly help us add the finishing touches to enable us to provide a tranquil space for families affected by childhood cancers.”
