A Swansea charity which inspires young people through creative activities including DJing and song writing has secured a grant to continue its good work.
Swansea MAD has received £950 from our homes in our West Wales region as part of the Community Champions scheme.
Swansea MAD is a grassroots youth and community charity which runs activities to help prevent poverty and to promote social justice and equality.
Rachel Benson of Swansea MAD, said: “We’re so grateful to Persimmon Homes for this tremendous donation.
“This money will be used towards our arts and wellbeing workshops for 11 to 25-year-olds in Swansea.
“The workshops include music production and DJing, podcasting, singing, photography, filmmaking and video game design and promote participation, creativity and expression.
“They play a crucial role in enabling young people to have fun, develop new skills and to explore and express their feelings and emotions.
“A huge thank you to Persimmon Homes for getting on board.”
Persimmon has handed out more than £5m to good causes across Great Britain through Community Champions since its launch. Up to £64,000 is donated to good causes every month – and up to £4,000 in Wales.
Sharon Bouhali, sales director at our West Wales region, said: “We’re pleased to be able to support Swansea MAD.
“We were really impressed to see a charity doing such important work with young people in Swansea – and doing it in such a relevant and creative way.”
Persimmon is currently building stunning new homes at Awel Afan on Princess Margaret Way on Aberavon seafront.
