Wessex region has transferred nine homes from Stanton Chase development in Swindon to a local housing association partner.
Wessex region have delivered the tranche after contracts were exchanged with West Oxfordshire’s largest affordable housing provider, Cottsway Homes – which has a growing presence in Swindon – for 34 homes in June.
The 34 properties are part of a larger development which will include 190 new properties in total when complete. The new development will offer a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4-bed properties for affordable rent and shared ownership, including two wheelchair-adaptable homes.
A convenience store will also be provided on the site. Two, three, and four-bed properties on the open market can be purchased from £254,995.
Stanton Chase is located four miles north-west of Swindon's town centre. It lies near Stanton Country Park and has easy access to the mainline railway station, the A420 to Oxford and the A419, which connects with Junction 15 of the M4.
The news comes following a visit to the site from both Swindon Council’s Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing in August, who were given a tour of the 113-home phase currently under construction.
Commenting, Wessex’s region Managing Director Julian Roper said:
“We are delighted to have made great strides in delivering these much-needed homes for Cottsway, with whom we have previously enjoyed a strong partnership at our Witney development.
“Ensuring Persimmon leaves a positive legacy is a principle at the heart of our company’s ethos so constructing a variety of homes to meet local housing need, like we have done here in Swindon, is important to us.
“Not only that but there is a diverse offering within the homes we have transferred in their size, tenures, and accessibility, demonstrating our commitment to working with partners so different can be catered to.
“Persimmon is making excellent progress on site and we look forward to continuing to deliver high quality homes for the local community.”
Colin Bloodworth, Cottsway’s Director of Development and Partnerships, said:
“We’re delighted to have partnered with Persimmon again to provide these much-needed affordable new homes in Swindon.
“These properties will help those in housing need and we’re proud to be adding to our accessible housing stock with two of the affordable homes at this site built to be adaptable for wheelchair users.
“We hope that our customers will be very happy living at Stanton Chase.”
