Tara building bright future with Persimmon
09 November 2021

When Tara Boyle left school at 16, she had no idea what she wanted to do.
Now just four-and-a-half years on, Tara is successfully working in house sales, has a clear path for progression and is even looking at stepping onto the property ladder herself.
Tara, from Glynneath, admits she was quite nervous when she stepped into the Persimmon Homes office in Penllergaer to interview for the job of trainee office administrator, accompanied by her mum.
Sales director Sharon Bouhali saw her potential, though, and offered her the role – and Tara hasn’t looked back since.
“I knew college wasn’t for me so I went for a job I saw advertised at Persimmon,” said Tara. “I didn’t know anybody at the company or anything about office work, so it was all a bit daunting. Persimmon have been fantastic. I was given an opportunity to learn about each department from surveying to sales and land buying. I really learnt so much in a short period of time.
“I was then given the opportunity to think about which direction I wanted to go next. I was considering accounting but eventually decided on sales as I’m a people person and I love chatting to people. I’m loving every minute as trainee sales advisor. Buying a house is the biggest purchase in someone’s life, so I love making it as easy and painless as possible for the customer.”
Gym fanatic Tara, 21 in December, is currently working at Persimmon’s Tir Y Bont development in Bridgend and is looking forward to the future.
She said: “I’m excited about progressing with Persimmon and learning as much as I can. I’m also looking to buy my first home in Swansea so that’s really exciting.
“Not going to college and getting straight into work was the best decision I’ve made. I have lots of friends in university who still don’t know what they want to do so I feel I’ve got a head start on them. Persimmon have been absolutely brilliant to me and have opened so many doors.”
Sharon praised Tara’s attitude and commitment – and forecast a bright future ahead.
She said: “Entering an office environment at 16 is difficult, but Tara has shown positivity and maturity right from day one. She is extremely conscientious and eager to learn. Further education is not for everyone and I’m really pleased that Tara has been able to flourish with us. I’m sure she will go on to have a long and successful career.”
