24 August 2023

Egglescliffe Primary School has secured a £5,000 donation from our Teesside business after successfully applying for funding via our Community Champions scheme.
The school’s Headteacher Emma Robertson this week welcomed our Teesside Managing Director Sean Taylor and local borough councillor Stefan Houghton to formally receive the donation.
The money is being put towards funding the resurfacing of the schools playground, adding to funds already raised by parents and volunteers through activities such as school discos, tombola’s, and bake sales.
Our Community Champions scheme is open to all local charities, schools and community groups looking for funding. A total of £180,000 is available every quarter with winners receiving either £6,000, £5,000 or £1,000.
Emma Robertson, Headteacher at Egglescliffe Primary School said: “On behalf of everyone at our school I would like to say a huge thank you to Persimmon for their generous donation.
“Everyone associated with Egglescliffe Primary School are fully committed to providing our pupils with the best opportunities to grow and learn in a safe and welcoming environment. The development of our playground will undoubtedly support this ambition and have a positive impact on the children.”
Stefan Houghton, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Councillor for Eaglescliffe East, said: “It was great to visit my old primary school along with Sean Taylor from Persimmon Homes.
“Persimmon have a presence in Eaglescliffe, so it is great to see them assisting a local school with their fundraising target to improve their playground. I would encourage other local groups to look into the Community Champions scheme for funding.”
Sean Taylor, Managing Director at Persimmon Teesside, added: “I was delighted to visit Emma and her team at Egglescliffe Primary School to see how our donation will be used to improve the school’s playground facilities.
“At Persimmon we are always looking to support communities across Teesside and are committed to leaving a positive legacy through our Community Champions scheme.
“It is fantastic to be involved in such a worthwhile cause and I wish Egglescliffe Primary all the very best for the future.”
