Three landmark moments in 72 hours for Annelise
21 January 2021
For most people in Wales life has slowed down dramatically in recent times, but not for Annelise Griffiths who moved house, turned 30 and got engaged – all in the space of three days.
During a whirlwind 72 hours, Annelise, her partner Martyn Hobbs and their two young daughters moved from Danescourt in Cardiff to a new home at Persimmon’s The Parish development in Creigiau.
Then on the Sunday, the second morning of waking up in their home, Martyn turned to a shocked Annelise and proposed.
And to put the icing on the cake Annelise turned 30 the following day.
“We’d moved to our dream home on the Friday and spent Saturday just unpacking and getting everything together,” said Annelise, who works for an energy company.
“Then on Sunday I woke up and Martyn said to me ‘do you want the final piece of the puzzle?’
“I didn’t know what he was on about a first but then he popped the question. It was a complete shock but I said yes straightaway.
“It was an amazing weekend, capped off by my birthday a day later.”
The couple are now looking at wedding venues, with gas engineer Martyn pushing for a lavish celebration, though Annelise would be happier with a smaller event.
Annelise and 34-year-old Martyn have bought a four-bedroom Chedworth style property at The Parish.
“We love the house so much,” Annelise said. “As soon as we walked into the showroom we knew it was right for us. It’s got the extra room downstairs and Martyn wanted a garage, so it ticked all the boxes.
“My friend is moving in three doors down and I also know my next-door neighbour from school, so it’s nice.”
The pair have long-term plans to add a conservatory to the property but in the meantime will be decorating the kitchen and bedrooms.
