A thriving rugby club in Somerset has received backing from Severn Valley.
North Petherton Rugby Club is seeing unprecedented demand for its mini and juniors section along with its senior teams (men’s and ladies rugby).
The club has received a £1,000 donation from Severn Valley to help purchase a new scoreboard at the ground, as the club continues its ambitious plans for development.
The donation comes through our Community Champions scheme, which supports good causes in the areas in which it is building, with up to £64,000 donated each month.
Commenting on the donation, North Petherton RFC Chairman, Nick Rees said:
“North Petherton Rugby Club is thriving with a strong mini and juniors section, and senior men’s and ladies’ teams.
“With the nearby Chaucer’s Meadow development, Persimmon has a significant presence in the local area, and we are delighted to have received this generous donation.
“As a club, we are continually seeking to improve and develop our facilities, and this funding will help us upgrade our scoreboard at the ground.
“On behalf of North Petherton RFC, I’d like to thank Persimmon Homes for their fantastic support. It is greatly appreciated.”
Severn Valley region are currently constructing 75 much-needed new properties at the nearby Chaucer's Meadow development on Taunton Road.
The development, which spans 5.68 acres, will create 105 full-time direct jobs and is made up of a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes.
Carly Spear, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said:
“Central to the Persimmon ethos is supporting the communities in which we are building – and Community Champions is one way in which we do that.
“It’s fantastic that so many people want to play rugby at North Petherton and we are thrilled to be able to help them in this way.
“Alongside building much-needed homes, we also want to leave a positive lasting legacy in the local community, and North Petherton RFC is a thoroughly deserving Community Champion.”
