Durham Visual Support group is to receive a £1,000 donation from Community Champions.
Malcolm Wall of Durham Visual Support Group said: “As a registered charity, we help blind and visual impaired people with any mental health and daily living difficulties they may be experiencing.
“We meet every Monday for tea and coffee and have discussions and offer support what can be done to help with any difficulties or problems our members may be having. We have always been self funding and have traditionally raised money for the group by running raffles and distributing collection tins, as well as seeking donations from local businesses.
“As part of our activities we also arrange trips and meals out for our members and the money from Community Champions will go towards ensuring we are able to continue with this, as well helping with day to day operating costs such as paying our rent . We would like to extend a big thank you to Persimmon Homes for this wonderful funding boost.”
Richard Cook, managing director for our Durham region, added: “Community Champions was established to help those that need it at the very heart of our community and the Durham Visual Support Group is a great example of a charity that is there to support local people.”
