West Midlands announces partnership with Shropshire Council
05 November 2024
A range of high-quality affordable homes will help Shropshire based people in housing need, following the completion of a project involving our West Midlands team and Shropshire Council.
Four new homes - at Weir Hill Gardens - have now been transferred to Shropshire Council who will own the properties and STAR Housing (the Council Arm’s Length Management Organisation - ALMO) will manage the homes for people in housing need.
The handover was marked by a visit to the Shrewsbury development by West Midlands Technical Director, Lee Perry, as well as Councillor Dean Carroll, Cabinet Member for Housing and Assets, Shropshire Council.
Emma Webster, Head of Development at STAR said: “The STAR development team was set up by Shropshire Council to address local housing need. It has been a pleasure to work with Persimmon to deliver homes to a diverse client group within the county.”
Councillor Dean Carroll, Cabinet Member for Housing and Assets, Shropshire Council, said: “We are delighted to work with Persimmon Homes to provide these new homes for local people in Shrewsbury. This partnership demonstrates our commitment to increasing the supply of affordable housing in the county and meeting the needs of our communities.”
Lee Perry, Technical Director at Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “Handing over a selection of our homes at Weir Hill Gardens is the latest example of our successful partnership with local authorities, which are helping to deliver much-needed affordable homes for families across the West Midlands. It was great to welcome Emma to the site to see the positive impact that our partnerships are having in the region.”
“We’re continuing to work hard to prioritise quality and affordability for all our customers. As well as the homes which have now been transferred, the average price of a Persimmon home is 25% below the market average in England and Wales – extending the opportunity of home ownership to more local families.
“We’ll continue to work closely with our local partners to ensure our investment makes a positive difference to communities.”
